Comparing to a huge DSLR camera with all its equipment and bulkiness, a smartphone does the job just the way as we need it to. However, there are a few things that we need to make sure before setting out for smartphone shooting.

Smartphones for recording videos

#A – Be friendly with your smartphone

First of all you need to know your smartphone well. There are several thousands of brands in the smartphone industry and each brand and each device has some set of unique features. While this uniqueness can bring some genuine benefits to the user, they can also slash off some of the much needed attributes. Every smartphone has its own pros and cons. Before you start shooting with your mobile phone, get to know about it well. Of course, the best way to get know about your mobile phone is by using it.

#C – Good lighting equals to good video

Smartphone cameras have smaller image sensors and lenses, and that explains the need for proper lighting. If you are a travel video maker, try to select a right time to shoot your videos. The videos normally come perfect under sunlight, when the sun is bright enough. At times, the videos that were shot during mid noon can also cause problems like overexposure. If you plan to shoot indoor, you may also need to plan for some lighting setups.

Further more, smartphone cameras do not react quick to the drastic changes of light. This can also be a challenge when you shoot outdoor. Keeping these things in mind, if you plan your shots prior to the actual shooting, you will get better results.

#D – Do not neglect audio

If you did everything for your video, took perfect shots, but the audio was poor, then your video is considered of poor class. In some cases, especially when you do vlog, your audio is more important than the video. Things can go utterly terrible as most smartphones do record video but capture audio at a low quality. A good way to keep your audio better is by shooting your videos away from noise. When I say keep yourself away from  crowd and noise, this may not go well with the travel video makers. They may need to walk through the busiest markets in the world or sit under a roaring waterfalls. This is where we need some external microphones, especially lapel lavalier microphones for smartphones. While Rode SmartLavPlus Lavalier Microphone for iPhone and Smartphones is one of the best, it can be a bit expensive. A cheaper yet good option is Boya BY M1 Lavalier Microphone that most vloggers prefer today.

Your mobile camera maybe good, but there are so many third party mobile apps that can make your videos look so professional. Certain features that these mobile apps provide can change the way how you think about shooting with your mobile phone. Some of these apps are free while others charge a nominal price.

Well, there are a lot more things that you will consider important when you go out for shooting with your smartphones. Gimbal camera stabilizers for smartphones can help you a lot to bring better videos using phones. My Selected gimbal camera stabilizers for smartphones

  1. Zhiyun Smooth Q

This may not be the best, but I have a special attachment  to this one. Not because of anything else, but I use it for my travel videos. Well, there are slightly better gimbals like Zhiyun Smooth III and DJI Osmo. Even when these gimbals are rated better, for an armature video maker Zhiyun Smooth Q is perfect for his pocket (it is much cheaper than the others) and serves the purpose pretty good. Though it lacks some of the features that the other two offer, it has the same stabilization on the videos captured by iPhone or any other compatible smartphones. You can watch my video about Zhiyun Smooth Q below:

On Amazon, it has a price of Rs. 9,900.00. You can check it out here.

2. DJI Osmo Mobile

Osmo is among the easiest gimbals to use. While it is easy to handle, it also offers some of the best features for smartphone shooting. Just like the Smart Q, this can also pan (horizontally and vertically), tilt, lock the gimbal on an object in the frame, and many more features. However, it is slightly costlier than the Zhiyun Smooth Q. This gimbal is compatible with mobile phones with widths between 2.3 inches and 3.3 inches.

On Amazon, it is prized at Rs.12,999.00. You can check it out here.

3. Lanparte HHG-01 3-Axis Hand Held Gimbal

If I say this as one of the best gimbals for those who love to take steady videos on smartphones, there is no exaggeration. It comes with a set of clamps and counterweights to help the video makers to get their videos at a super steady mode. However, unlike the first two gimbals that we discussed in this article, Lanparte HHG-01 doesn’t come with a joystick and this can be a disadvantage for those who wish to have a control on their device. Despite the absence of a joystick,  it adjusts automatically to the video maker’s wrist movements and keeps the footage smooth.

On Amazon, it is prized at Rs. 24,190.00. You can check it out here.
