Vazhachal Destination Guide

Sister to Athirappally, smaller when compared to the Niagra of India, but beautiful and charming is Vazhachal. An alluring park on the banks of Chalakkudy river with a spectacular view to the ripples is never inferior. Vazhachal is located in Thrissur district of Kerala almost 5 kilometers from Athirappally at the entrance of the forest division.

Moistness of soil and the grace of forest on this stripe of forest of the Western Ghats is never enough for the travelers. A glimpse of wildlife in its natural abode, a walk through the dense forest, and listening to the whispering sounds of bamboo forests – Vazhachal has many more to mesmerize you. Getting permission from the forest authorities and exploring for the Royal Indian Elephants or for the four endangered Hornbill Species, Vazhachal forests are adventurous and natural.

NB: To enter the Forest Division, one has to obtain permit from the forest check post at Vazhachal. Animal encounters are not uncommon in the forest and it is advised to avoid provoking acts and speeding of vehicles.

Riding through the forest on a motorbike during the dry weathers is a wonderful experience, giving you the chance to appreciate the pristine nature. The forest road that starts from the check post at Vazachal passes through a few water bodies, plenty of turns, and covers 44 kilometers before it reaches a small hill town – Malakkappara.

  1. First off I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick
question that I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious
to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to
writing. I’ve had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.

I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10
to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas
    or hints? Kudos!
